Please don’t point and stare, we’re just technologically impaired

We had a little blackout tonight. A fierce rainstorm knocked out the power on our block. It was only about 10 minutes, but it did knock us offline. Fortunately our son was already asleep and didn’t notice a thing.

The 2nd proof of Issue 11 arrived, and it’s a big improvement. It’s still a bit too purple for my tastes, but it’s clear and clean and looks pretty awesome. Plus, our title can actually be seen, which is a plus. So I went ahead and approved it.

A few days ago I got the store on our website sorted out, with the help of one of the WordPress plugin’s coders. Today, I discovered that it actually fixes another problem the store had been having. It’s supposed to enable me to list things in the store, like a print edition on Amazon, and the “Buy Now” button would just send you to Amazon to buy it. But instead, the button had been adding the item to our cart. Which wouldn’t help, because we don’t sell issues direct from our hands (well, except for Issue 1). But since uploading the new fix, the Buy Now buttons are doing what they’re supposed to! So I spent some time today adding items to the store, and now every version of every issue can be found in our store.

I did some more prepping of the website; created a new page for bios of the slush readers who start their work on Issue 13 (on Thursday). There are four of them, and I only have 2 bios. Yeesh. I also sent an email reminding them that I need the bios.

I’m also very pleased to say that a continuous problem I’d been having with the new layout from the beginning has been fixed. I’m not 100% sure how, but it’s fixed. The layout now has *KNOCKS WOOD* no flaws that I know about. Looks pretty bitchin’, too. I’m a little scared to touch it for fear of it “breaking”. But I did add the rest of the nonfiction content.

Submissions… yeah. We’re probably not going to match last month. We do have some excellent subs, and we’ll have a very good issue. A spectacular issue, even! But still, send in your subs! TWO DAYS LEFT to submit to the LGBTQ issue!
