Just because I’ve been quiet doesn’t mean nothing’s been going on. In fact, we’ve been up until 1am the last few nights working.

The results: today I finally heard back from the last writer, and with that last approval I was able to finalize all the content. I’d already gone ahead and finished as much as possible on the various editions, so tonight I finished both the print and PDf editions and put them to bed. The print edition should be approved by the printer by Monday at the latest, so I can order our proof copy; if we put a rush on the delivery, we might get it in time to have the print edition available through our online store on Release Day (No matter how we swing it, the issue won’t be on Amazon until at least the 3rd or 4th).

As I said the PDF is done, except for merging the pieces together into 1 document; I’ll be doing that Monday. The Kindle and PRC are almost done too – they just need the last story added to the template, but I didn’t have time tonight. I should get to it tomorrow. Yesterday I also got most of the online stuff prepped, so hopefully tomorrow I’ll find time to get those finished as well.

Actually, I’m fairly hopeful that I can have us all ready to go on Issue 10 by the end of the weekend. If so it would be a HUGE relief; it would enable us to use the last week of August to get as far ahead on Issue 11 as possible. That would then enable us to have Issue 11 hopefully ready very early, and THAT would give us more time to work on the oversized Issue 12. We’re highly motivated for that to happen, because Issue 12 is going to demand a LOT of time.

Also, help us spread the word about Issue 12, LGBT! We want our highest number of submissions yet! (Remember, we’re looking for more fiction than usual, probably 8-10 stories.) And we would really like to see article/nonfiction submissions too – we want to hear people’s stories and observations! Submissions will be accepted throughout September!

We’ve started reading Issue 11 submissions, and have already found a couple excellent ones. Submissions from women this month are still sitting at just 28.6%.

By the way, I get asked this a lot, so just to make sure it’s clear: Yes, we still accept multiple submissions. It still says so on the website, but I guess some people worry that that might have changed and we just failed to update the site. We appreciate people’s desire to not irritate us by inadvertently violating our submission guidelines – believe me, we really appreciate it. But rest assured, if our policies change, not only will we announce it here, but we’ll update it on the site immediately.
